Tucked away in the five-star Clico Boutique Hotel in Rosebank, Clico Restaurant embodies a special blend of laid back elegance, warm intimacy and relaxed fine dining. Mirroring this, Marnus Scholly, the softly spoken head chef, quietly produces plate after plate of subtle deliciousness, each one beautifully plated with careful precision and equally palate-pleasing.
The focus here is on fresh, seasonal, local and organic ingredients.
“The seasonal trends push us to look at the available produce and how we can prepare it differently. Flavour is always our number one priority and has been brought out in simple dishes with an underlying complexity,” says Scholly. Dishes on the autumn menu include a range of starters like hearty potato and leek soup with herb oil and crispy potato and flavourful butternut gnocchi with roasted mushrooms, spinach and parmesan. Mains include, salmon, beef cheek ragout and braised lamb in caul fat, but we’d recommend trying the canneloni made with sweet potato, Napolitano sauce and mushrooms.
Clico Restaurant offers an a la Carte menu option as well as a six-course, wine-paired tasting menu. If you’d like to have a fully vegetarian dégustation menu, just let the restaurant know ahead of time.
