The Jameson Vic Falls Carnival takes place at the picturesque Victoria Falls. There’s also a train party that takes place on 29 December where you’ll ride in a vintage steam train to the middle of the Lion and Elephant Park.
Other activities include: bungee jumping, helicopter rides and white-water rafting, which can be done during the day.
You can also visit a number of party venues on 29 and 30 December and wander the streets of Vic Falls town. Shuttles will be available to ferry ticket-holders to their preferred venues. Ring in 2016 with the carnival, which takes place on 31 December at the Vic Falls Primary School.
We had a chat with Seed Experiences’ founding member Craig Bright, who’s one of the organisers of this exciting festival.
How did the idea for the festival come about?
The festival was started a year before Seed Experiences got involved. I was actually at Vic Falls to have a look at the festival and have a good time. I had the most amazing time! I saw many teething problems, but I also saw massive potential. We’d made similar mistakes in our early days with Rocking the Daisies (an outdoor music festival that is now in its tenth year) and I thought we could add value so I approached the owners and offered to purchase a percentage of the festival. After a couple of months of negotiation, we were the proud new partners in the Vic Falls Carnival.
How do you choose your headline acts?
We pretty much want acts that are established and well known throughout Africa. It’s a mix of bands and DJs from the surrounding areas of this region of Africa. We generally go for acts that have fun vibes and can get the fans jumping up and down – it’s a New Year’s celebration after all, so it needs to be fun and groovy.
Who heads up Seed Experiences and who makes up the team?
Seed is a South African-born company that was co-founded by myself and Brian Little who is the current Managing Director. He makes sure the whole machine is well-oiled and runs smoothly.
After my experience that first year, I approached my partners to get involved as I absolutely loved the experience and fell in love with the Falls, which are truly magical.
What makes the Jameson Vic Falls Carnival unique?
There’s no place like Vic Falls anywhere in the world – you need to see it to believe it. I would encourage any music fan with the tiniest sense of adventure (and anyone who likes a good party) to add the Vic Falls Carnival to their bucket list. I am in the fortunate position that I am able to experience this glorious occasion every year.
