The Shangri-La Kerry Pudong Hotel is almost like a city in itself and suits travellers seeking a different experience. Besides offering attentive staff to help you make the most of your stay, the hotel is also connected to the Kerry Parkside shopping mall for your convenience.

Accommodation: The hotel has 33 well-appointed suites, each with delightful views of Century Park across the road. The suites have their own lounge area – great for relaxing or having a meeting. The decor is contemporary Asian with a homely feel.  You could also go big and book out the enormous Presidential Suite… located on the 30th floor – offering the ultimate in indulgence, luxury and incredible views of the city.

Services: A well-run business centre with conference rooms, complimentary Wi-Fi, a butler service and transfers are among the amenities you can expect.

Leisure: It’s very child-friendly, with a play area aptly named the Adventure Zone, in which I had a lot of fun with the kids. Kerry Sports is the city’s biggest health centre and offers sports and recreational facilities, including the Chi Spa, where I enjoyed a full body massage.

Dining: The hotel’s outstanding dining areas include its micro-brewery, The Brew, where you can sample craft beers. The Cook has 13 live theatre kitchens with cuisine from around the world, which you can order digitally and have delivered to your table.

Attractions/Activities: There is so much to do in sprawling Pudong – visit the various markets, cycle the city’s waterways (TimeOut Shanghai recommends cycling along the Zhaojiabang Canal) or visit one of the bathhouses. Century Park is a beautiful green area, great for walks, picnics and boating. Visit Pudong’s most famous buildings, such as the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Shanghai World Finance Centre and the Jinmao Tower, before heading back to the luxury of The Shangri-La Kerry Pudong Hotel.

Rates: From RMB2 000 (about R3602) for a room only with complimentary Wi-Fi. Rates are subject to a 15% service charge per night, depending on availability.

Accessibility: The maglev train connects The Shangri-La Kerry Pudong Hotel to the airport, which is also accessible via the Metro Line.
