Cocaine & ecstasy worth R8m found at OR Tambo Airport

R8 million worth of cocaine and ecstasy was found at OR Tambo International Airport by SA Revenue Service (Sars) customs officials during two busts within 48 hours.

The first operation on Tuesday lead to 13,3kg of ecstasy valued at R3 960 000, which was seized at the Johannesburg International Mail Centre when customs officials became suspicious of cream containers that had damaged seals.

Upon further investigation, they uncovered ecstasy in 42 containers which were in transit from Sweden to Malawi.

South African Airways (SAA) would like to notify its customers that the airline will continue to offer a daily service between Johannesburg and Sao Paolo in Brazil after the World Health Organization (WHO) concluded there was no justification to impose a travel ban to Latin America and the Caribbean due to the outbreak of the Zika virus.

South African Airways‘ (SAA) today launched flights to Abuja as a second gateway in Nigeria.

The inaugural flight with a contingent of senior government officials, and media guests on board, carried a substantial number of passengers proving the popularity of the route.
