Passengers departing on domestic flights from O. R. Tambo International Airport from Wednesday 15 November 2017 are advised that public address microphones at the Domestic Departures Terminal and gates will be switched off.

Standard operating procedures for most domestic flights require that passengers start boarding at least 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time. From Wednesday, no passenger boarding calls will be made. Passengers are advised to check their boarding pass and the flight information display boards for boarding times.

OR Tambo on bomb threats

Two passengers were arrested at OR Tambo International Airport yesterday (20 September) on charges of making bomb threats.

The passengers were detained, following separate incidents at the check-in counters of a domestic airline at about 2.30pm and 5pm respectively.

Those arrested are a 38 year-old man and a 28-year-old man. Both are South African citizens. The passengers involved in these separate incidents were taken to the airport’s police station and detained. They will be required to appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court to answer to charges of contravening the SA Civil Aviation Act.

Revamp for OR Tambo’s Terminal A

With the aim of enhancing the travel experience, OR Tambo International Airport is undergoing massive refurbishments to its Terminal A Retail Duty-Free Mall.
