Wedding tourism spikes as Indian Couples say “I do” in SA

While South Africa is known for it’s safari escapes and adventure holidays, 2016 saw a sharp increase in Indian travellers visiting the country to say their vows. Nearly 81,500 Indian tourists visited SA till October 2016, resulting in a 27% increase being recorded for the year, with a further increase expected for the year 2017.

These travellers, mostly from south India in areas such as Chennai, visited the country for leisure purposes, while others made up a extensive wedding parties. The Western Cape is the most popular place where brides and groomsmen from India want to have their weddings, with chartered families…
