Located on the slopes of the Simonsberg Mountain, Delheim Estate is preparing to kick-start the new vintage with its popular Start of Harvest Celebration. The event will take place on the weekend from 23-24 January 2016 when the Sperling family will invite guests to enjoy a number of activities.
Visitors will be greeted at noon with a glass of wine and a traditional “mosbolletjie” to begin the day’s festivities. They can look forward to live music, a buffet picnic along the river’s edge and a sampling of the grapes harvested that day.
The highlight of the celebration will undoubtedly be the grape stomping competition, which sees teams compete to produce the most juice. The winning team will be awarded a fantastic prize and “bravest spirits” and “best dressed” also have a chance to win.
“Not that you need an excuse to visit Delheim this summer, but if you are looking for a wine harvest where the winelands come alive with a genuine feeling of Gemütlichkeit, then Delheim’s Start of Harvest Celebration is a sensational one,” says Destination Manager, Charlotte Terblanche.
Tickets for 120 adults per day are available and cost R300 per person. Tickets cost R175 for children under 12 and kids under two attend at no cost. See Delheim’s website for more details and e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org to book tickets.
