Set in the buzzing Cape Town CBD, the Southern Sun Cape Sun has undergone extensive renovations to ensure its place as a leading family destination in the Cape.

The 33-year-old hotel has been more commonly associated with business travel; however, additional accommodation options and facilities have created the perfect atmosphere for leisure travellers and those with families. This has been accomplished through the conversion of a number of twin rooms into family rooms with two double beds.

“Southern Sun Cape Sun’s room configuration has traditionally catered more to the business traveller, but with the introduction of family rooms, the hotel now has greater family appeal, allowing two adults to share a room with two children,” says Jacques Moolman, GM at Southern Sun Cape Sun.

In anticipation of the holiday season, the hotel has revamped all 367 rooms and added a convenient parking facility. Festive children’s entertainment, including face-painting, movies and games, is on the agenda.

The hotel is ideally located nearby a range of family activities, including markets, museums and eatery options. Just a few minutes’ drive from the beach, guests don’t have to travel far to make the most of their stay in Cape Town.

“The city centre has seen a massive revival to its former atmosphere of authentic cultural experiences, combined with some of the best dining in the country, and a lively, colourful experience of street life in Cape Town,” says Moolman. “This is a true reflection of life in the city – not just of its spectacular beaches, but of real Capetonian life.”
