Sawubona recently celebrated with Siba Mtongana as she launched Season 2 of her cooking show Siba’s Table at the Fairway Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort in Randpark, Johannesburg. This South African TV chef and food editor is fast becoming a global sensation and has garnered fans worldwide with her hit show. Siba’s Table can now be viewed in more than 150 countries.
Her relaxed charm is still at the forefront of her cooking show. Her dishes have a global appeal with a South African twist and the narrative of the show still includes her family, as well as another bundle of joy, and some of her close friends. Siba has a penchant for turning ordinary dishes (using ingredients that are possibly already in your cupboard) into page-turning masterpieces that could easily appear in a cookbook. She makes the viewer feel that they can replicate any of the dishes that she creates.
In Season 2 of Siba’s Table, viewers can expect theme-based menus like the American-inspired feast for her 12th “first-date anniversary” dinner with husband Brian Mtongana. They usually do a braai to celebrate their anniversary, but opted to do something different specifically for this season.
Here, the couple enjoys grilled towering cobb salad burgers and strawberries on sticks. The dessert is heart-shaped peanut butter brownies and virgin pomegranate mojitos. Of course, there’s a twist to each episode, but we’ll have to wait and see what it is.
Another unique meal is a different take on a traditional surf and turf pairing roast beef fillet with calamari with a strong Asian vibe. This dish is perfect if you want something quick and tasty, but also filling for Sunday lunch. This is complemented with an Asian ribbon salad and sushi rice.
Every episode and every dish that comes out of Siba’s Table is peppered with tales from her childhood and imbued with her intense love of cooking.
If you want to be a hit in the kitchen during the festive season, make sure you tune in to get some fabulous tips.
