One of the star attractions of the Design Indaba Festival 2016, which took place from 17-19 February, was the 21 Icons Season III exhibition. Dubbed “The Future of a Nation”, the spectacular visual display featured some of South Africa’s most prominent young figures.

The display held at the Cape Town at the Artscape Theatre was interactive and engaging; combining photography, short films and behind-the-scenes images. Each photo in the series was captured by Gary Van Wyk’s vision, which demonstrates the spirit of the subject, making for a compelling viewing experience.

Included in the visual exhibit was performance and visual artist Athi-Patra Ruga, knitwear and textile designer Laduma Ngkoxolo, as well as visual artist and blogger Tony Gum.

See the 21 Icons website for more info on the series and to view more energetic portrayals of some of the most influential young South Africans.
