On 20 October, KIA Motors South Africa made history.
For the launch of the brand-new KIA Sportage, an attempt at the World’s Longest Test Drive began at Umhlanga, Durban. It was an epic journey across six provinces, with over 3 000km clocked, ending at the finish line at Cape Point in Cape Town.
For a chance to rediscover our beautiful landscape through a Sportage window seat instead of our usual aerial views, we tagged along on their journey. See the wonderlust-inducing imagery below.
Hundreds of South Africans test drove the new Sportage, as the world record drive made its way through multiple KIA dealerships in towns and cities such as Durban, Jo’burg, Ladysmith, Ermelo, Middelburg, Bronkhorstspruit, Centurion, Sandton, Vereeniging, Bloemfontein, Reddersburg, Queenstown, East London, Port Elizabeth, Mossel Bay, Hermanus, Cape Point and many more. While car enthusiasts got to sign their names in the history books while standing a chance to win a KIA Sportage of their own, the team got to do some social good, dropping off supplies at a number of schools in Reddersburg, a small town in the Free State.
The 2017 Sportage has been completely redesigned and looks as stylish as it is sturdy, packing enough torque to reach any destination, with a more solid feel and an improved cabin. It’s the ideal compact crossover for the “urban adventurer” – ready for the city streets or the open road.
The competition: Win a Travel Cooler Warmer or an Outback BBQ & Cooler.
