One on Whitely – the coolest address in town

If you like the concept of living in a luxury apartment surrounded by every amenity and convenience, then ‘One on Whiteley’ will be of significant interest. Part of the Melrose Arch development in the upmarket north of Johannesburg, these apartments are now for sale and will be ready for occupation by July 2017. One on Whitely is the long-awaited fourth residential phase of the precinct, and rumour has it that these slick and stylish apartments will soon be selling like proverbial hotcakes.

Melrose Arch is a mix of cobbled streets, coffee shops, restaurants, bars, a theatre and a gym, boutiques, galleries and most main-street retail and big business ‘names’. Park once and you can walk the ‘village’ at will. It’s a European living concept adapted to local city life and Johannesburg in particular. You come home from work and whether you need to shop, find an espresso, do a bit of gym or chill out with a drink, all downstairs and a short walk away when you live in an apartment here.

Luxury accommodation in Melrose Arch is in major demand, according to Dr Andrew Golding, CEO of the Pam Golding Group, which is marketing the 119 luxury apartments in the new developments.

“Melrose Arch is a pioneering mixed-use development concept, which has consistently led the way in modern urban design in South Africa,” says Golding.

“…the development is iconic, offering a sophisticated, highly exclusive and convenient high-street cafe lifestyle, which knows no equal in this country. In addition, there are only a limited number of residential properties available within the highly fashionable development, which has an enviable national and international reputation.”

Apartment prices range from R2,695,000 for a one-bedroom apartment of 60 square metres to R6,048,000 for a two-bedroom executive pad of 136 square metres. The total value of One on Whiteley as an apartment block is R450m.

In view of its location, it’s ideal as an investment property to rent out to internationals working in the nearby Sandton business district and environs. An increasing number of blue-chip companies are based at Melrose Arch, including such well-known brands as the Bidvest Group, Lonmin, Du Pont, Royal Bafokeng Holdings, TWP, Stanlib, Worley Parsons and British Airways.

In keeping with the eco-conscious times we live in, One on Whiteley will be monitored to reduce carbon emissions. To counter load shedding, it will have a full electricity backup system and all units will have air-conditioning.
