NatGeo explorers Dereck and Beverly Joubert attacked by buffalo

Acclaimed conservationist duo, filmmakers and co-founders of the Big Cats Initiative, Beverley and Dereck Joubert were attacked by a buffalo in the Okavango Delta, Botswana. Both Beverley and Dereck were injured, with Beverly sustaining more serious injuries that placed her in ICU.

Derek announced the incident on his social media page on Saturday, to which an outpour of support from the public followed and confirmed that she was in a stable condition.

Support and prayers continued to be shared on the Big Cats Initiative Facebook page, a initiative the couple founded alongside National Geographic which funds 39 grants in 17 countries.

The Jouberts have been extensively documenting and researching wildlife across the African continent over a course of 30 years.
