Legacy Hotels opens new conference centre in Sandton

DAVINCI Hotel and Suites

Business events, conferences, meetings and exhibitions are all big business – and Johannesburg is a key business events and meetings destination on the African continent. So it’s good to note that there’s another venue to choose from in the Sandton CBD.

Situated on Maud Street, The Sophia, a new prime conference centre by Legacy Hotels  has opened its doors for business. This is an addition to the DaVinci Hotel and Suites in the heart of Sandton and named after the famed Italian film actress Sophia Loren (promising opulence, elegance and class, of course).

This sophisticated venue is a result of a dedicated needs analysis by the hotel group. Prior to the opening The Sophia, the DaVinci Hotel and Suites had to turn away guests and clients because they did not cater to larger groups. To solve this, they built the 200 square metre conference venue, which has ample spaces for breakaway groups. It seats up to 121 people in cinema-style and 36 in a boardroom set-up. It can also accommodate between 90 and 100 people in the Banquet Hall for a cocktail reception, which fits 120 people easily.

The venue includes any anemities necessary to make conferences or meetings successful, such as state-of-the-art audio visual equipment, projector and screening facilities. There is also high-speed wifi Internet to ensure that you are always connected, as well as locally inspired menus and quality service.

For business travellers booking in overnight, the DaVinci Hotel and Suites have all the necessary facilities and a few fantastic luxuries: there is a well-equipped gym, an in-house spa, a whisky lounge and a great restaurant offering fine European fare with a local touch.
