It has been formally announced that Le Quartier Français will be taken over from current owner Susan Huxter by Analjit Singh and his family (of Leeu Collection) on 1 September 2015. Rest assured, however, that it will be business as usual as the much-loved Le Quartier Français name and brand will continue and acclaimed chef Margot Janse will still be running this boutique hotel’s multi-award-winning cutting-edge restaurant, Tasting Room.
A self-made entrepreneur and industrialist, Analjit Singh is clearly passionate about investing in the Western Cape winelands. The Leeu Collection consists of Leeu Estates (luxury boutique hotel and wine estate) and Leeu House (an exclusive 12-bedroom boutique hotel), which are set to open later in the year.
Taking over ownership of Le Quartier Français is no doubt a major coup. This internationally known Franschhoek gourmet getaway destination has 21 beautifully decorated rooms with en-suite bathrooms. The more informal Living Room eatery offers breakfast, small plates (made to share) for lunch or dinner and artisanal cocktails. The property comes with a surround view of the winelands and a central pool. Stay here and you know you’re living the good life in a town that is the unofficial foodie capital of the country.
Susan Huxter told the Hotel & Restaurant online magazine, “With Analjit’s introduction of new offerings and exciting luxury lifestyle contributions to Franschhoek, I feel confident and happy that he and his family are the right people to take Le Quartier Français to the next level.”
