Culinary superstar Luke Dale-Roberts is set to open a new restaurant in Johannesburg in 2016. The owner of Cape Town’s The Test Kitchen, which currently sits at the number 28 spot of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, Dale-Roberts will bring a brand new pop-up concept to The Saxon Villas, Hotel and Spa, one of the city’s finest hotels.

Dale-Roberts says: “The Saxon is an iconic hotel and the perfect home for us to set up a new creative space.” With his innovative and ground-breaking approach to food, Dale Roberts is sure to make his presence felt on the food scene in Johannesburg. “I’m excited to venture into the Jo’burg market and see how diners there react to The Test Kitchen style of food,” he says.

The pop-up concept is the perfect culinary playground for his extraordinary skills and experimental approach to food. In fact, Dale-Roberts hosted a Pot Luck Club style pop-up venture in Verbier, Switzerland during the ski season of 2012 and it was a major success. One can only wonder what he has up his creative sleeve for breathing new life into the Jozi food scene.

In addition to taking 28th place on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants List, The Test Kitchen has also been awarded as its Best Restaurant in Africa for two consecutive years. South Africa’s annual Eat Out Awards have voted The Test Kitchen as the country’s Best Restaurant of the Year for the past three consecutive years.
