Developer Martin Venter’s dream of his family being settled in a home in the Cape winelands was realised in 2001, when Val de Vie Estate came to life at the foot of the Berg River in the Paarl-Franschhoek Valley. This luxury family estate has since come to be known as the “Valley of Life”. Swiss watchmaker Jaeger-LeCoultre, on the other hand, first saw the light of day in 1833. Polo, the Sport of Kings, has brought these world-renowned luxury brands together.
Val de Vie, which was recently named SA’s top residential estate by market research firm New World Wealth, has grown to be recognised internationally as the country’s polo capital, with two impeccable fields. In 1931 in India, a group of British army officers challenged Jacques-David LeCoultre to design a watch able to withstand their games of polo, the country’s most prestigious sport and the Reverso watch was born. Now the two brands have launched a collaboration, as they both epitomise valuing each moment, luxury and a life well lived.
“Jaeger-LeCoultre is an incredible brand with which to be associated. It was an honour for me to be named a friend of the brand earlier this year and it is an equal privilege to have the company join forces with Val de Vie in an exclusive timing partnership,” commented former Olympic swimmer Ryk Neethling, who is also a Jaeger-LeCoultre Friend of the Brand and Val de Vie Estate Marketing Director and shareholder. Together, the iconic brands will be hosting events taking place at the Val de Vie’s Polo Pavilion over the next two years.
