Known for its wines and olives, Overberg’s Gabriëlskloof Estate will be reconstructing its popular Lunch Box experience into a “Love Box” this month.
Inspired by Valentine’s Day, restaurant owner and chef Frans Groenewald has put together a picnic basket of treats to compliment the month of love. Salmon, chocolate pots, candy floss and strawberries can be expected, among other tempting nibbles.
“Our Love Box will be on offer long after the chocolates have vanished from the shelves and the red roses have wilted, so don’t rush to make it on the 14th,” says Groenewald. “It offers the perfect excuse to come and spend a day in the countryside, amid all the harvesting action.”
Just outside Bot River, the hillside setting, abundant lawn and tranquil ponds provides a serene setting for picnic-goers. The experience can be continued at the estate’s restaurant, which offers a variety of foods and wine.
The Gabriëlskloof Love Box, catering for two adults, costs R300. Pre-bookings are essential and can be made at firstname.lastname@example.org.
