Bring your family and friends along to usher in the festive season with good food, handmade and homemade goods, as well as fabulous wine at the annual Gabriëlskloof Favourite Things Market. Taking place on a family wine farm – Gabriëlskloof Estate – outside Botrivier in the Overberg region of the Western Cape on 11 and 12 December – the event will give you the opportunity to spend some quality time with the family while hunting for Christmas gifts.
You’ll get a chance to find rare and unique products from Overberg producers and chat to artists and farmers about the various wares on sale. The estate really lends itself to the occasion, with lush lawns and ponds making for a gorgeous setting.
Expect to find anything from handmade leather bags, vintage products, artisanal bread from Baardskeerdersbos and skincare and Tesselaarsdal beauty products, as well as gourmet burgers, craft beers, bubbly, a food truck and a travelling teahouse. The Oyster Lady will also be there, selling fresh West Coast and smoked oysters.
Look out for the pop-up jewellery store, which will feature talented designers like Aileen Fevrier from Fielafooi Jewellery, who will be offering handcrafted sterling silver pieces. Simone Toerien’s Folkloriikka produces folktale-inspired jewellery and Geta Finlayson’s items are inspired by seaside living in her hometown, Hermanus.
The kids will also have a lot to keep them busy. It’s an event that you certainly don’t want to miss and the good news is that entrance is free.
