KING’S DAY, AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS
Every year, Amsterdam turns a bright shade of orange for King’s Day, (the birthday of Willem-Alexander of the House of Orange). It’s a fun celebration that sees the city centre almost empty of cars, trams and bicycles to make space for the crowds. The festive atmosphere is made all the more exciting by street vendors selling just about anything you can imagine (except alcohol) and a vibrant boat parade on the canals.
