From ordering breakfast as the giraffes of Giraffe Manor in the Lang’ata suburb of Nairobi, Kenya enjoy their share of morning treats to tracking silverbacks in Rwanda, comedian and TV host Ellen DeGeneres and model, actress and philanthropist Portia de Rossi explored East Africa on a magical safari that’ll awaken your wanderlust.

Having founded the Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund, aimed at supporting “global conservation efforts for critically endangered species”, DeGeneres brought awareness to various wildlife conservation initiatives as she documented her experience on Instagram, getting close with the elephants of the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and thanking supporters of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund.

“Spending time with these gorillas changed my life. Thank you to everyone who is helping Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund @savinggorillas and @edwildlifefund save them,” she said in one of her posts showing her tracking gorillas in the thick of a Rwandan forest.

DeGeneres also got to meet Rwandan President Paul Kagame and shared a post saying “I loved meeting the President of Rwanda. Thank you, @PaulKagame, for supporting @EDWildlifeFund and gorilla conservation.” See some of the highlights of her journey below.
