Eikendal Estate’s annual Weintaufe promises a celebration of summer, as guests are invited to enjoy an al fresco feast on the lawn while welcoming the harvest.
The Winelands destination, located between Stellenbosch and Somerset West, will be hosting the harvest celebration on Sunday 6 March. Eikendal’s flagship Chardonnay 2016 will be introduced and is sure to be a highlight for wine-lovers attending the event.
“What started out as an intimate ceremonial blessing to celebrate the end of the harvest at Eikendal 35 years ago, has evolved into a not-to-be-missed highlight on the social calendar, attracting a cool crowd each year,” says winemaker Nico Grobler.
With the option of dining at the estate’s restaurant, Cucina di Giovanni, guests can also look forward to various organised activities aimed at enhancing the day’s festivities. Tractor rides, golfing by the dam and grape-stomping are a few of the items lined up.
Gates open at 10am and tickets can be purchased upon arrival for R50 per person. Tickets include a free glass and tasting of the new chardonnay from the barrel. Under 18s enter free of charge.
Eikendal’s full collection of wine will be on sale, so make sure you leave space in the car. For more information, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
