Driven by ‘Ven a comer’ or ‘Come to eat’, a global platform promoting the Mexican Government’s “National Policy to Foster Gastronomy”, this unique event will combine the talents of Dale-Roberts and Vallejo who are currently ranked 22 and 12 by the World’s 50 Best Restaurants respectively.
The Pot Luck Club at the Old Biscuit Mill will act as host as the chefs collaborate on the evenings of 15, 16 and 17 September, offering guests exceptional views of Cape Town.
Vallejo is well-known in his country for his modern twists on traditional Mexican flavours. Dale-Roberts is equally celebrated as a pioneer of the culinary industry in South Africa.
“Jorge and I met recently and bonded over a shared passion for pushing boundaries using local produce. He’s a fantastic chef and I’m really looking forward to getting into the kitchen with him to share ideas and produce exciting and unique taste experiences for our diners – it’s what we live for,” says Dale-Roberts.
The collaboration will be celebrated over three dinners, each of which will feature excellent offerings which combine the chefs’ styles and influences. “Mexican cuisine has grown rich and diverse from its ancient roots as one of the world’s iconic gastronomic cultures, and it’s no wonder that our new generation of chefs are at the cutting-edge of today’s culinary innovations,” says Mauricio Escanero, Ambassador of Mexico to South Africa, who will be co-hosting the dinner series.
“We are extremely excited about being involved in a collaboration of two celebrated chefs who share so much in their approach to food yet come from such different worlds.”
At a cost of R2 500 per person, this extraordinary experience will include a 10-course culinary explosion, wine pairings and the opportunity to meet the renowned chefs creating the offerings. There is also a R1 600 tea pairing option as well as Vegetarian and Pescatarian menus available.
