R8 million worth of cocaine and ecstasy was found at OR Tambo International Airport by SA Revenue Service (Sars) customs officials during two busts within 48 hours.
The first operation on Tuesday lead to 13,3kg of ecstasy valued at R3 960 000, which was seized at the Johannesburg International Mail Centre when customs officials became suspicious of cream containers that had damaged seals.
Upon further investigation, they uncovered ecstasy in 42 containers which were in transit from Sweden to Malawi.
The second incident took place on Wednesday, when a detector dog reacted to twelve containers of cream containing 15kg worth of cocaine. These were on their way to Windhoek from Sao Paulo with an estimated value of R4 315 500.
The drugs were handed over to police for further investigation.
