Africa is home to a multitude of extraordinary wildlife experiences. One of the most moving and memorable animal interactions is a gorilla trek. Observing the endangered mountain gorillas of Uganda, Rwanda and the DRC is a truly unique wildlife experience. It involves trekking through bamboo forest and jungle accompanied by a professional guide – all adding to the excitement of the trek. Safari365 has put together a short video highlighting gorilla treks and these majestic creatures.
Producer Ronit Shapiro’s documentary, Sisters of the Wilderness, follows five young Zulu women from disadvantaged backgrounds as they venture into the wilderness for the first time, capturing how their experiences affect their lives.
It took Shapiro a year to choose the right women for the film, visiting the communities of Howick, Umlazi, Mpophomeni and Sweet Waters in her quest.
The documentary’s premise is that the wilderness has the power to heal even the most broken.
