The 2018 World’s Best campaign by Travel and Leisure has ranked Cape Town 12th on its list of the best cities worldwide, as voted by its readers.

Popular tourist destinations have been ranked according to the scores submitted by global travellers as part of the publication’s annual World’s Best Awards survey.

According to their website, “Readers rated cities on their sights and landmarks, culture, cuisine, friendliness, shopping, and overall value.” The result was a list of 15 incredible global destinations.

At the top of the list is the city of San Miguel de Allende in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico. The city boosts Spanish architecture from its colonial-era, and is the home of structural gems such as the Parish church of San Miguel and the Courtyard of the Centro Cultural where the dome of the Church of the Nuns lies in the background. Visitors also have the town’s array of cultural and lifestyle offerings to look forward to, including art galleries, cafes, upmarket restaurants and a vibrant nightlife.

Second on the list is another Mexican gem, Oaxaca, with Udaipur of India coming in at third position.
