South Africans love to braai – for us it’s virtually a transcendent experience, which is why we like to do it at least once a week. Twice is better! If you’re in sunny South Africa and you’re looking for something different to do for National Braai Day on 24 September, head to Le Venue Restaurant at The House of JC Le Roux in Devon Valley, Stellenbosch in the Cape Winelands.

They’re launching three delicious braai menus in honour of our best-loved pastime. When you arrive at the wine estate, you’ll be met with a glass of JC Le Roux Brut Cap Classique and then you can select from three á la carte menus:

  1. Banting (yes, seriously, there’s a braai banting menu!) marinated beef skewer, oven-roasted Mediterranean vegetables and coriander yoghurt dip – R98 per person.
  1. Roosterbrood (traditional Afrikaans braai bread) and potato with chive cream cheese. Add this to the menu above – R110 per person.
  1. Chermoula chicken kebab, Toulouse sausage with rustic garlic and parsley accompanied by a chef’s salad in a mason jar and a smoked paprika mielie – R135 per person.

Your meal’s sorted, all you need to do now is add liberal flutes of JC Le Roux Méthode Cap Classique or sparkling wine. Pick from the Cap Classiques made in the French tradition (the signature Scintilla 2008 is unforgettable) or the sparkling Le Domaine and La Fleurette.
