If gourmet burgers and whopper milkshakes are your thing, make sure you book a seat at Gibson’s Gourmet Burgers & Ribs at Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront. In fact, even if you’re not usually a fan, give it a try – you’ll probably be converted!
The winner of the Best Burger Eatery in the Western Cape at the 2016 Eat Out Mercedes-Benz Best Everyday Eateries competition certainly delivers on its award.
Excellence is part of the Slick Restaurant Group’s genetic make-up (it also owns the award-winning Belthazar and Balducci restaurants). Before launching Gibson’s a few years ago, the Slick Restaurant team went on a burger-tasting expedition around the globe. They returned with a plan – and, with input from Belthazar’s Master Butcher and feedback from tastings with colleagues, friends and customers – Gibson’s was born.
There’s a selection of over 40 burgers, including beef, chicken, pork, vegetarian, salad and Banting options. The menu also offers steak, delicious ribs, pasta and seafood.
Top it off, if you can (share, if necessary) with one of the 100 double-thick shakes. After trying one of these, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a milkshake that can match it anywhere else.
For the very hungry (or brave), there’s an 850ml Freek mega-shake, packed with indulgent treats. Be warned, though: this is OTT decadence!
