2016 was a year of exceptional growth for Airports Company South Africa’s network of nine airports with over 39 million passengers facilitated. International and domestic travel numbers achieved milestone numbers with a record growth of 5,4% compared to 2015.
King Shaka International Airport achieved the highest percentage growth, showing a 8,45% increase having processed 5 million passengers. Cape Town International Airport then followed with a 7,3% increase having processed 10 million passengers while O.R Tambo International Airport saw a 3,8% increase having exceeded 20 million passengers processed, making these the top performing airports.
Domestic, Regional and International traveller numbers experienced substantial growth with a 5,3 increase compared to the previous year in domestic arrivals, and a notable 5,8 % increase in International Departure numbers.
