Nothing says spring and summer like time around a glistening pool on a warm day. We took our inspiration for this blog from a fantastic article in The Telegraph titled, “The world’s best hotel pools“.
We created our own list of favourite lodge/resort/hotel pools on the African continent (see below), but please share yours with us on Facebook or Twitter.
- andBeyond Benguerra Island Lodge: (Featured above). In the grounds of a luxury beach holiday destination off the beautiful coastline of Mozambique, this pool is a hop, skip and jump from the silky white sands of a gorgeous palm-fringed beach.
- Park Hyatt Zanzibar: Situated in historic Stone Town, the Park Hyatt’s spectacular infinity pool gives guests endless views of the Indian Ocean, which traders and adventurers used to make their way to the “Spice Islands”.

5. North Island, Seychelles:
This all-inclusive private island retreat offers the ultimate in Robinson Crusoe-style beach chic, the stylish retreat makes the most of the spectacular setting – with villas right on the beach and private pools in which to take a refreshing dip.
Day or night, the pool area at One&Only Cape Town is seriously spectacular. Book some space at the designer pool cabanas (launched last summer) for an afternoon of relaxation, or sip a perfectly prepared G&T around the pool under inky skies before dinner at Nobu or Reuben’s.
Surrounded by caramel-coloured dunes and lunar-like mountains, this quiet hideaway in the Namib Desert is the perfect place to get back in touch with nature. After a day of exploring the desert landscape, soak in the refreshing pool and revel in the silence.
