Mills and Boon’s escapist romance novels are often set in the most luxurious of destinations. With tall, dark and handsome bachelors and beautiful maidens headed for “happily ever after” the books are considered the best in their genre.
The publishing company has released the top 20 most romantic destinations in the world, with some surprising inclusions.
Expectedly, Paris topped the list, followed by Santorini in Greece and Venice in Italy.
Also on the list are places like Bora Bora in French Polynesia, Agra in India, where one would find the Taj Mahal, and the Fuji Five Lakes region in Japan.
Zanzibar was the only African destination to make the list and slotted in at number 20.
